General Administrative Matters:

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. in the Bishop Ludden Junior/Senior High School cafeteria.
  2. The minutes from the September 5, 2000 meeting were read and approved.
  3. Treasurer’s Report: As of September 21, 2000, the Boy’s Booster Club has $1,780.28 on account at Bishop Ludden. The current profit from our Bottle Drive/Car Wash was $1,343.15 which was split with the Girl’s Booster Club. The Boys’ Booster Club share of profits from the tournament program ads and 50/50 raffle was $436.51. There is still $100 in program ads and $19 in 50/50 raffle funds to be deposited which was collected after the statement date.

New Business:

  1. Len Granozio suggested that the club begin deciding on the 10% of fundraising proceeds donation to be made as part of our By-Laws. A list of charities including: Big Brothers, Big Sisters, St. Jude’s, American Cancer Society, Toys for Tots, Unity Kitchen, and Nursing Home donations was compiled and it was suggested that the list be given to the boy’s teams to decide on the Charity to be benefited from our Club. Oscar will take this list to the teams for a vote and report back to the Club.
  2. A big thanks to George and Josh Callahan for the coordination of our successful Bottle Drive/Car Wash. We had attendance from all our boys’ teams and hope to continue this fundraiser on an semi-annual basis. Thanks to all players and parents who bagged, drove their vans, washed cars and supported this effort!
  3. Matters relating to the Bishop Ludden Booster Club (all sports) were discussed. Concern over the possible lose of the Carrier Dome Concession were expressed. It was decided that the Boys’ Soccer Booster Club would work the concession stand on November 18th, 2000 and Jean Cole will forward shift times as soon as possible. We need 20 people to work and will need representatives from all teams to help out. Len Hojnowski offered to work on a cost projection for improving the field lighting and will forward this projection to the main Booster Club to show our desire to help get the outdoor fields/track in better shape.
  4. Upcoming Fundraiser:
  1. The Girls’ Soccer Booster Club has obtained a donation of soccer nets from an Alumni of Bishop Ludden. We may have to contribute some money in order to obtain the preferred box nets. Estimates are around $100 for our contribution.
  2. Oscar Vergara brought extra large shoe bags to the meeting as something that the Club might purchase for the soccer players. They would cost approx. $12 per bag , possible a little more with the logo. It was suggested as a bag to be purchased for all Varsity soccer players on an annual basis. Further discussion resulted in a decision to table this idea until our next meeting.
  3. A motion to support a Boys’ Soccer Banquet, in lieu of an ice cream social, was made. It was suggested that we try a pizza/wing party on Sunday, December 3rd around 1:00 p.m. Jean Cole will check on the availability of the school cafeteria for this event and report back at our next meeting. A special gift for seniors was suggested (a cost of approx. $180 total). Oscar will check out the possibilities and report back at our next meeting.
  4. Senior night is Thursday, Oct. 19th. Jean Cole, Ann Quartier and Sarah Skvarch are taking care of arrangements for this event.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 8, 2000 @ 7:00 p.m. (Ludden)

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at about 9:00 p.m.
